Drawing from rare archives, historian Graham Russell Gao Hodges brings to life the courageous black men and women who fought for their freedom and eventually built a sturdy and substantial middle class.
Hodges will be at The Newark Public Library on Thursday, March 7 to talk about the book and sign copies. Books will be available for sale at the event.
