Virginia Cornue, PhD, 63, is founder, President, CEO and of CornueCopia, LLC, the parent company of Vaboomer. She is the founder of Vaboomer.com. She is co-founder and Executive Editor of Thimbleberry Press, LLC. She's the author of non-fiction trade book The Dragon's Daughters Return and numerous scholarly articles. She holds a BFA in Dramatic Arts from UNC-CH as one of the first 24-fulltime women students since the university's founding in 1789. She is ABMA in Organizational Development from The New School for Social Research. She earned a PhD in Cultural Anthropology at 56 for her work in social change, gender, and women's organizations in 1990s urban China. She is the former Executive Director of New York NOW and The Service Fund of NOW-NYC, and co-founder and founding Executive Director of the NYC Women's Funding Coalition. She is the former Executive Director of Newark Emergency Services for Families. In 1989, the Newark City Council named her Humanitarian of the Year. In 1998 she received the Susan B. Anthony Award for activism on behalf of women from the National Organization for Women-NYC. At 50 she became a mother to her now spectacular 13-year-old daughter. She is a Boomeranger several times over: social activist, actor, profit and non-profit executive, social scientist, writer, mom and entrepreneur.
