SATURDAY MORNING AUTHOR/ILLUSTRATOR STORYTIME
Saturday, November 18, 10:30am
Flossy is the bossiest girl around. She's bossy at home and she's bossy in school. She's bossy with her friends, and sometimes she's even bossy to her teacher! Well-meaning Flossy doesn't understand why no one will listen to her.
Then Flossy meets Edward, a boy who is just as bossy as Flossy. But the collision of these two strong-willed forces has a surprising result: they learn how to be a friend.
Paulette Bogan fell in love with art during a family outbreak of chicken pox when her mother handed
Paulette and her siblings paintbrushes and encouraged them to paint a mural on the playroom wall.
In the third grade she gave her mother a drawing of a chariot on which she had written “I want to be an artist when I grow up.” In the fifth grade, when she got into trouble for writing stories during math class, she told her parents, “I’m going to be a writer.”
She studied at the Parsons School of Design and worked as a political and editorial illustrator before becoming pregnant with her first child. That’s when Paulette discovered picture books and found a way to combine her passions and realize her childhood dreams.
Now she is the author and illustrator of many beloved books for children including Virgil and Owen, Virgil & Owen Stick Together, and Lulu the Big Little Chick, and the illustrator of Chicks and Salsa and Buffalo Wings, written by Aaron Reynolds. Paulette was awarded the Children’s Choice Book Award for Lulu the Big Little Chick. Chicks and Salsa is featured on the PBS Children’s Show: Between the Lions.
