Climate Change Discussion Group

The Climate Change Discussion Group
invites you to a book discussion of
South Pole Station by Ashley Shelby
Monday, September 11, 7pm

Special Guest: Lacy Shelby, sister of the author, whose time in Antarctica inspired the novel.

South Pole Station received rave reviews from NPR and Publisher's Weekly (to name a few) and made one of The Millions' Most Anticipated Books list (for the 2nd half of 2017). Ashley has written about environmental issues for The Nation and has also written a nonfiction book called Red River Rising about the 1997 flood in North Dakota that was acclaimed by historian Douglas Brinkley.

South Pole Station centers on a group of scientists, artists, and maintenance/construction/cafeteria workers - all misfits - who live together in Antarctica. Their lives are disrupted when a scientist, funded by climate change deniers, joins them for a season.
